ABOUT ME
Dr Rachel Jones (Psychiatrist), MBBS, MRCPsych
After studying medicine at St Bartholomew’s Medical School, London, I gained my Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree.
Following my medical degree, I worked as a hospital doctor for two years before training as a psychiatrist and obtaining my Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
I completed my specialist training in forensic psychiatry and have been on the General Medical Council Specialist Register for forensic psychiatry since 2005.
I worked in the NHS until 2013 and progressed through different levels of seniority until becoming a consultant in 2005.
I left the NHS in June 2013 to concentrate on private practice and have been a visiting consultant to the Priory Hospital in Chelmsford and the BMI Hospital in Bury St Edmunds since then.
I have treated many patients with a broad range of mental health difficulties.
I have a special interest in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy and have trained in the use of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy through the Marion Gluck Training Academy in London with whom I remain a member and gain ongoing professional support through my peers. I am qualified to assess, investigate and prescribe bioidentical hormones.
As a practising psychiatrist, I am only too aware how prevalent mental disorders are and finely adjusting hormone levels, within normal thresholds, can have global health benefits, particularly on mental health.I take a holistic, individual approach, measure patient’s hormones and balance them wherever possible.
I always aim to provide a high quality, professional and reliable service and I listen carefully to my patients incorporating their wishes into their treatment plan. I combine my wealth of experience and knowledge of evidence-based treatments to tailor an individual hormone rebalancing treatment.
I am a firm believer in preventative medicine through good nutrition, exercise and lifestyle management and keep up to date with ongoing professional development. I am fully approved in my practice by the General Medical Council and the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
